Roadtrip to Bullfrog

Terry works with the kids in Kane School District, and since Lake Powell School at Bullfrog marina is in Kane School District that meant ... ROADTRIP!

Here we are at an overlook - if you look closely you can see the road winding through all the rock formations. The guy who took this picture said "do you want me to get the Rockies in the background?" The Rockies?! Those are the Henry Mountains back there, but whatever.
I love barns! I always have to stop and take pictures of every cool barn I see. This one is in Boulder.

There are lots of petroglyphs in Capital Reef - these are just a few along a huge wall of them.
This is Lake Powell School where Terry did his presentations. As you can see they are very remote. Just kidding! This is in Capital Reef.

We stayed at the Defiance Lodge. It was a beautiful day so we enjoyed the rocking chairs on the deck of the restaurant. This was also the view we had from out room - awesome!

This is Lake Powell School, it was built by the Park Service for the children of their employees. It is a beautiful school and its design is very unique. I was excited to go there because I work with the principal, secretary, and some of the teachers there and have never met any of them. It was great to meet them and check out the school. The secretary is also the lunch lady - they all wear many different hats there.

Terry did his alcohol/drug awareness presentation for these 3-6th graders, then for the 7-12th graders. Some of these students ride the ferry to school 25 minutes each way every day from Hite marina. The students change a lot from year to year. Everyone was really nice - I think they were just glad to have some visitors!

You can see the lake in the background - this is their playground/ball field.

We took the Burr Trail home and loved it so much we decided to take the kids back there next week! It was a LOOOOONG drive to the other side of the Lake, but we had so much fun we can't wait to go again!
