Moab Trip/Class Reunion

Even though I didn't graduate from
Grand County High School
they invited me to their 25 year class reunion.
I hadn't been to Moab for about 23 years so I was
really excited to see everyone and see Moab!
The first thing we did was drive up River Road.
The Colorado River is so beautiful!
Then we checked into our room at the
Apache Motel. Now, when we were making our
reservation online I remembered that the Apache Motel
was really old. But on their website they said,
"remodeled, refurbished." So we thought it would be
really retro and cute. Well, I'm here to say,
"No, it's not remodeled or refurbished!" It was a dump.
And everything was booked, so we were stuck. So we
just bought some air freshener and made the best of it.
At the reunion it was SO FUN to see everyone!
Gail, Lisa, Tammy & Cathy. These guys were
some of my best friends - they're still great, and so
much fun! Love these guys!! Some of our friends
couldn't make it -dangit! And we really missed them -
you know who you are!
We played a little golf - me with Tiffany, Cathy & Gail.
The golf course there is so pretty! Lots of
red rock like here in Kanab.
We drove around town to check it out.
This is the house I grew up in. Funny how it seemed
so much bigger then.
This is the church I was baptized in.
Allen Memorial Hospital
Where I was born. They're building a new hospital now.
This was where my old elementary school was.
Helen M. Knight Elementary
The new one is very nice.
We drove up what we used to call the
Egg Ranch Road
I don't know if they still call it that - but it
was a scary road when I was little. I used to have
nightmares about this road. I didn't realize
what cool things there are here! Lots of 4x4 roads
and petroglyphs.
We went to Arches Nat'l park.
This formation is called "Three Gossips."
We were lucky that the clouds rolled in -
made for a much cooler day to hike! Thus,
the grey skies...
This is Turret Arch.
This is the North & South Windows.
Double Arch - amazing!
This shows the trail on the back side of Delicate Arch
and the funky arches and potholes you see from
this narrow part of the trail.
Here we are at the base of Delicate Arch. This
has got to be one of the most beautiful formations on earth.
I almost wish there was some way to preserve it so it
would never erode and fall. It is absolutely breathtaking!
One of the earliest petroglyphs showing a man on a horse.
Fiery Furnace. I'm dying to go back and explore this
area - there's so much to see here. There are even
lots of 4x4 and ATV trails here, as well as
backpacking trails. You mean we CAN all
get along and allow others to enjoy the area in
the way they want to? Novel idea...
We should try that in all areas of Utah.

Well, we had a GREAT time in Moab!
Great friends, great sights, great food...
Can't wait to go back!
