Kalin's Birthday Extravaganza!

The day before Kalin's birthday, we surprised him by
taking him out of school and taking him to hike
Angel's Landing!
It's something he has always wanted to do -
so he was excited when we told him what we were doing!
Here we are on the shuttle going up the canyon
to the trailhead.
We thought it was funny to see these
deer tracks in the concrete on the steep trail.
Kalin & Terry on the MANY switchbacks.
I got this picture off the internet. It is taken
from the adjacent rock face. It shows the switchbacks
we were on called "Walter's Wiggles."
Kalin laughs in the face of danger!
Okay... here we go!
A narrow spot on the trail. Yeah, it's only
about 1500 feet straight down-on both sides.
Yikes!
Actually, I am deathly afraid of heights,
but I really wasn't scared at all - I was surprised.
I still told Kalin to "BE CAREFUL!"
about 250 times!
We were so excited to make it to the top!!
Kalin's looking for girls to date as the
shuttles pass by 1500 feet below. ha ha
Enjoying the view...
It was breathtaking!!

Angel's Landing from below.
Delicious dinner in Springdale after the hike.

I took brownies to Kalin's class
on his birthday.

They had to wait till they finished their test
before they could eat them ...
For his birthday dinner Kalin
wanted bacon-wrapped venison
and baked potatoes. YUM!
His birthday cake -
double layer brownies with vanilla
ice cream in the middle topped with
strawberries & ice cream. Delish!
New golf shoes!
The day after his birthday he went on an
over-night hike with the Young Men.
On Sunday, Kalin was ordained a Priest by his dad.
Terry did a good job. I'm so thankful to have
the priesthood in our home, and I'm thankful
that Terry & Kalin honor their priesthood.
Jay, Grandpa Brown, Terry, and Grandpa Ford
were all there to support Kalin in his
ordination.
Awww... what a cute little boy!
Hard to believe he's 16 already!
Happy Birthday, Kalin!!!
We love you!
