So Delaney's knee has been hurting her
off & on for about 2 years.
We had taken her to the Dr before to
see what was up, but they just thought
she had strained it. So she'd rest it, and it
would feel okay for awhile but then it would
hurt again. When we took her in for her
physical for bball she told them it was still
hurting, so he ordered an MRI. It showed
a tear in the meniscus, so he recommended
surgery...

he could just clip off, which would be a fairly
quick fix and little recovery time...
but what they found was a tear all along
the meniscus. On an older person they
probably would have just clipped the whole
torn piece off, but since she's so young he wanted
to preserve as much cartilage as he could, so he
stitched it up (bottom left pic). Waiting for it to heal meant
there could be no weight on it for a "long time."
She could bend her leg, just not put any weight on it.
She also had a torn ACL, but he said it looked
like it was healing by itself, so he didn't repair it.

Still really swollen and numb.

Here she is headed to the Dr.
for her check-up. She was hoping to be
done with her crutches - but no such
luck. He said she'd have to be on them
for 2 more weeks! She was not very happy
about that! She is SOOOO sick of crutches.
He also said her knee was numb because
there is a nerve there that was probably cut,
but in time it should heal and she'd regain
feeling again. I know this recovery will
take a long time, but I'm just thankful that
he saved the cartilage - that's good
news for the rest of her life!
He said she'd be good as new in a
He said she'd be good as new in a
few months!
Hang in there Delaney!

That is sad for her. And especially during a sporting season. I hope it all heals well and she can participate again.
